Metal Friction Wrench
Designed to give 360 degrees of uniform compression on the male pipe upset, FGS metal friction wrenches are used for make-up and break out of fiberglass pipe.  The wrenches are equipped with replaceable dies which firmly grip the pipe without slipping.  The dies may require replacement if they become dull from heavy usage.  These wrenches are hand operated tools; handle extensions which reduce the required force are used successfully and recommended for larger pipe sizes.

Strap Wrenches
The FGS recommended strap wrenches are designed to be used by hand on fiberglass pipe.  These wrenches should always be used on the male or female upset, never on the pipe body.  Handle extensions are used very successfully on the No. 11 and larger.  These wrenches require the use of abrasive powder to assist the grip of the strap on the pipe.  Never use the point of the wrench against the strap on the pipe; always use the heel which provides uniform compression 360 degrees around the pipe.

FGS manufactures thread molds for field fabrication of 8rd threads.  These precision molds can be used to make numerous threads if they are used properly.  Removing the molds from the pipe with typical pipe wrenches can cause the molds to become bent; always use strap wrenches.

FGS manufactures thread molds for field fabrication of 8rd threads.  These precision molds can be used to make numerous threads if they are used properly.  Removing the molds from the pipe with typical pipe wrenches can cause the molds to become bent; always use strap wrenches.

STARtec Thread Lubricant
The FGS API 10rd and 8rd connections are designed to utilize a Teflon based lubricant for make-up.  FGS recommends and sells STARtecTM for use on these connections.  Any other lubricant requires special approval.  Do not use this lubricant on Star Super Seal Connections.  One Gallon = 11 lbs.  (5.0 kgs)

Hi Pro Plus
Hi Pro Plus is a two-part, manganese dioxide cured polysulfide based PTFE (polytetraflouroethylene) filled sealant that is lead free and solvent free.  Hi Pro is used as pipe thread sealing compound for joining and coupling threaded oil field pipe

Star Super Seal Connection Lubricant
The Star Super Seal connection is an O-Ring Compression Seal.  Teflon based lubricant or Teflon tape are not recommended.  FGS recommends hydraulic fluid, 10W oil or waterless soap.

Mold Release and Brush
The FGS thread mold requires a light coating of wax with a stiff brush prior to applying epoxy.

Woven Roving
FGS offers woven roving glass for the purpose of fabricating an upset on pipe which will not accept the required diameter of API 10rd or 8rd threads.  Application of this material requires the use of an epoxy kit and special training by a FGS Representative.

Field Tapering Tool
The Unique* tapering tool is designed to accurately cut field tapers to make nipples on fiberglass pipe for sizes 2" to 6" in diameter.  It is operated manually with a ratchet handle or an electric power drive can be purchased separately.  The standard tool comes complete for high pressure and low pressure pipe sizes with a carrying case; and it can be special ordered for 1-1/2" pipe.

Heat Collar
Electric heat collars are used for the purpose of curing field threads or bonded connections.  They are available in a variety of sizes and ordered by the nominal pipe size.  Specify either 115V or 240V when ordering.  Chemical heat packs are also available.
